Production Blog: Editing

Image
Hey blog, I'm back from the weekend, unfortunately. As you guys know, I finished filming each scene late last week. In total there are around 20 shots that must be put together. This is where the editing portion comes into play. I am not the best at editing especially something that is taped, but I am still contributing where I can. I decided which transitions were put after each scene, and then a group member imported them. Since most of the film was on my phone, I helped upload it into iMovie. Each scene was cut using the editing apps on iPhone. So, if something was too long or out of place, I cut it down. This was for the sake of how smooth the video runs. In one scene, I tried to keep it as log as possible, but in the end, it just didn't blend well with the rest of the video. Another edit made was the importation of the song, "I can see you" by Taylor Swift. An idea sparked because we also had an insert of the text messages. The text from the so-called stalker

Production Blog: Filming Complete!

Image
Hey blog, I'm back again with some exciting information! Today the filming process was complete. After school, I headed over to the final destination, Holiday Park. It took around 15 minutes to get situated with the camera set up, and the actors (including me) in the right place. After this, it ran smoothly. There were around 11 shots taken today, which after editing the video will add up to at the least, a minute and 10 seconds. My costume today was more athletic apparel than last time, with leggings and a dry fit shirt. Similar to what I would wear to take a walk in the park. The reason for this was to make the music video as close to real life as possible. This was to simulate the situation of having a stalker, even if they are not wearing a creepy yellow mask, lol. I acted out every scene and I feel that it will come together nicely. All in all, it took around 45 minutes to film today. Much of this time was used solely for retakes. Unfortunately there were many bloopers, whi

Production Blog: Starting to Film

Image
Hey blog, I'm back again! This week I have started to film my music video. On Monday, my group went to the mall. There was one minor setback, as it was planned out to be filmed on my phone. However, my camera recently broke, so we had to film on Mia's phone, which wasn't an issue. When I first got to the part of the store the filming was being done, I had asked for permission. The worker said it wouldn't be a problem, so I continued. Half of the film ended up being completed. I had acted the entire time, as my group decided I am the one "starring" in the film. I will say, at first it was awkward having a camera recording me doing something out of the ordinary. But, I ended up getting used to it. It did take a couple of retakes to get the scenes in order. Despite this, the time frame that I planned to follow was still working. My costume ended up being leggings as I said in the previous blog and a sweater. No make up effects were used as this was the part of

Production Blog: Getting ready!

Hey blog, I am back! I can't even express how excited I am for this music video. Between getting to work with my classmates, and jamming out to Taylor Swift, I couldn't imagine what wouldn't be entertaining about this assignment. On Monday, the filming process will begin. This is because my schedule is backed up over the weekend, and luckily my group mates are understanding of that. But, back to Monday, as I said before, it is going on in the mall. So, I will drive there and for about an hour and a half get the shots that are needed. I am wearing an everyday outfit, as I am the "victim".  This outfit will most likely consist of leggings, tennis shoes, and a T-shirt. By doing this it will ensure to the audience that I am in no part aware of the situation around me. Therefore, not only will my outfit be normal, but so will my makeup. I plan to stay in one area of the mall in particular, so I am not wandering around aimlessly. But, again I am figuring that out as

Production Blog: Managing

Hey blog, it's me again! With some exciting news, I have started my Music Video! First things first, I have planned out what I am buying to make this video run as smooth as possible. This includes a tripod for filming instances and any other last minute items. I am in charge of distributing work between group members, as I have done so far. In the mall where I will be acting, there is a store called Dillards. This is where the majority of the film will be acted out. However, it is not planned that we will film all in one day. Hour time frames have been allotted, so the group does not feel that the work is overbearing. I hope to accomplish, at the least, the beginning shots of the video. As I feel that once you get started, it is much easier to continue. Rather than procrastinating and trying to get all of the film in one take. I have planned 2-3 days to film and 2-3 days to edit, while the rest of the time will be taken to peer review and make any revisions we feel fit. I am ass

Storyboard for my Music Video

1) Establishing wide shot of Kylie looking through a rack of clothes. 2) Over the shoulder of Mia (stalker) staring at Kylie walking to the dressing room.  3) Kylie talking to Rowyn (her friend), Mia's face is in the mirror.  4) Kylie looks back, Mia isn't there. then looks in the mirror again and she isn't there. There is then a close up of Kylie shaking her head in confusion.  5) Kylie tells Rowyn "lets go, something is weird", tracking shot of them walking to the car.  6) Kylie and Rowyn are walking to their car, a vehicle drives past and Mia is behind it.  7) Kylie walking in the park listening to music.  8) Long shot of Mia popping up behind a tree, starts to walk towards Kylie 9) Insert shot of Kylie texting Rowyn "I think someone is following me" after receiving a text from an unknown number.  10) Over the shoulder of Kylie running (huffing and puffing), opens car door and gets in.  11) Kylie locks the doors, starts to reverse quickly, then runs s

Planning for Music Video

Image
Props -  Knife - This is for our stalker (Mia) and she will use this to scare the victim (Kylie).  Fake Blood - We plan to use fake blood for some shots to bring gore and creepiness into our video.  Phone - For our victim to try and call the police.  Bat - To hurt the stalker. Ring camera - this will be used for one shot, we are still deciding what to do with it.  Location -  We are currently planning on filming in the Galleria in Fort Lauderdale, mainly in the parking garage but also some scenes in the mall. But we also decided we should add a second location. Kylie's house is right next to the beach so we also might incorporate some of that.   Schedule -  While this is still being decided on, the most likely date we will film this will be November 2nd. November 2nd is also "Day of the Dead" which contributes to the theme of the music video.  Backup plan -  Kylie is very busy with softball on the weekends so we would most likely do something after school. If we can'

Group Blog: Getting started

Image
Hey blog, I am back! So, I am starting this music video and have decided to work with two people in my class, Rowyn and Mia. They are both very dedicated and hard working. Rowyn has worked with many filming and editing platforms before and Mia is a very good actor. I have known Rowyn for a while now and I have worked with her on many projects before. Her strengths compliment mine and we make a great team. I just met Mia this year, but have heard many great things about her from Rowyn. Sports impact my schedule and they are very understanding of that. Plans have been formed to work around that. The song we chose is called "I can see you" by Taylor Swift. The month of October has approached us and it fit well with the scary aspect that comes with it. It took a few tries to find a song, but once we heard it, ideas sparked. When I say ideas, I do mean multiple. I am also a big fan of Taylor Swift, so there might have been a lot of persuasion on my part. But, Taylor Swift aside I

Intro Blog Into Music Video

Image
Hi blog I am back! A few weeks ago I created a commercial, now I am excited to tell you guys I am starting a music video! If you're new here, I am Kylie, a tenth grader currently attending Fort Lauderdale High School. Most call me a student athlete, but I like to call myself an athlete student. My life revolves around softball, it is where I get my motivation to keep going, to strive for excellence, and to never give up. This all sounds great in theory, but when you're a perfectionist like me it isn't all rainbows. Ever since I was a little girl I had a ball and a bat in my hand, little did I know. But, I do get free time every now and then and it's an understatement to say that I spend every second of it at the beach. Surfing, playing volleyball, watching sunsets while eating ice cream. I guess that's a pretty good explanation on why my favorite season is summer. Not to mention, it is watermelon season, and I might have a slight addiction. What else do I love? Pic
